At the construction site of the new Hopkinton Early Elementary School, the weather cleared just in time to celebrate the Groundbreaking Event for the new school. Excitement was evident by the crowd, including many young children who will be attending the new school.

Jeff D'Amico, Senior Project Manager at Compass, spoke about the overall project and plan and other speakers included Joe Markey, Chairman of the Elementary School Building Committee, Lauren Dubeau, Principal of Center School and Member of the Committee, Jack McCarthy, Executive Director of the MSBA, State Representative Carolyn Dykema, State Senator Karen Spilka and Michael Shepard Vice Chairman of the Elementary School Building Committee.

The new two-story, 83,250 square foot school will be built at 129 Hayden Rowe Street and will include many environmentally friendly elements. It will replace the Center School on Ash Street which was built in 1927 and designed for 395 students in kindergarten and first grade as well as 80 pre-kindergarten students.
