Hopkinton Elementary School Plan ApprovedCategory: Company Updates
It's full speed ahead for the town's new elementary school, after its site plan was approved by the Planning Board last month. The board went into overtime at its August 22 meeting, finally voting 80 to approve plans for the new school. No one was happier than Jeff D'Amico, a project manager with Compass Project Management, who shepherded the $43.2 million project through the two month long public hearing with the Planning Board. Work on the Hayden Rowe Street site will begin October 1, D'Amico said in an interview last week. "And now we can go out to bid for site and concrete contractors" he said. First we will begin clearing trees at the site, then later in the month we'll organize a groundbreaking once we coordinate the schedules of all the public officials involved," D'Amico said. The new school will be located at 135 Hayden Rowe Street, just south of EMC Park and in close proximity to the town's other public schools. The two story building will be approximately 83,250 square feet, and have the capacity to add 10 additional classrooms if needed in the future. The new elementary school will replace the 52,000 square foot Center School on Ash Street, housing a total of 395 first grade and kindergarten students.
